Fun & Serious Game Festival:

Every year at the end of November or in the beginning of December the Fun & Serious Game Festival is held in Bilbao. This is the most important annually held Vídeo-Games Festival in Europe. During a full weekend, Bilbao is the center of this big industry and the whole city becomes a perfect scenario where the tendencies for next year are shown and exposed firstly.

Durangoko Azoka:

Every single year the Biscayan town of "Durango" helds the big Cultural Fair of Basque Music, Books, Theatre, Cinema, etc. Starting on the 5th of December and lasting till the 9th of the same month, a great explosion of events and free performances to impulse the Basque Culture into the future are available to all audiences.

Santo Tomás:

International Belen Contest:

Every single year, in the month of december (from the 1st of December to the 6th of January) Bilbao helds the International Belen Contest which is a modelling contest of the New Testament's scenes taking from the Bible. It is really worth it, and highly reccomended to enjoy a visit to the next three museums where the models are showed to the public: Museum of Pasos from Bilbao, Basque Museum of Bilbao, and Maritime Museum of Bilbao.

Suggestions for the month of November

Zientzia Astea:

Every year in the whole territory of the Basque Country, during the first weeks of November, the University of the Basque Country helds a big science event with workshops, presentations, exhibitions, shows... which is called the Science Week. Lasting always a full week, in 2018 the week selected will be from 7th to 11th of November.

Pisado de Uvas:

Every year during the first weekend of november the wine cellar business "Bodegas Lecea" located in the Riojan town of "San Asensio" celebrates their big annual event related to the "Vendimia" tradition. In 2018 this weekend will be the 10th and 11th of November. The bare feet splashing of grapes is a free activity which will be held on saturday and it is really worth it.

Dantzaldia:

Every year during the month of november the "La Fundición" Theatre located in Bilbao organizes their international dancing festival. Many international top dancers come from abroad these days in order to introduce their shows in the Basque Counry.

Behobia-San Sebastián:

Every year during the 11th of November one of the most famous races in Spain is held in the "Gipuzkoa" territory.

Herri Krosa:

Every year during the second half of November another big and famous urban race (10 km.) is held in the city oif Bilbao. The trail being not too long is suitable for people of many ages and physical condition.

Fair Saturday:

Every last Saturday of November, the day after Black Friday, cultural agents in different parts of the world come together by performing during this day and at the same time supporting a social project of their choice. At the city of Bilbao an special event is held every year to support the selected project.

Suggestions for the month of October

San Faustos:

Every single year, during the second week of October, the Biscayan town of "Basauri" celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 6th till the 14th of October. Interesting free concerts starting with Hesian on the 6th at 22:30. Don't have to miss the "Zurrakapote" typical drink in the "lonjas" for free. You should drink it using the typical "Porrón".

Jornadas Europeas del Patrimonio:

Every single year, during the month of October, the whole Biscayan Territory celebrates the annual "European Heritage Days" where several museums, buildings, and landscapes are opened for free guided tours. Usually the tours, conferences and all the events held around the Heritage Days are focused on one specific topic of interest. In 2018 the topic will be "Women's influence on the European Heritage".

"Kilometroak" Basque Language Festival:

Every year, on the closest sunday to the 8th of October, basque speakers and those who love the basque language, its history and related culture join together in a Gipuzkoan town to decide for a big outdoor music festival. In 2018 the date will be the 7th of October and the place will be "Zumarraga".

Txikiteroen Eguna:

Every single year, on the 11th of October, basque singers join together in the old town of Bilbao to celebrate the "Txikitero Eguna", an old tradition in remind of the Begoña Virgin. Everybody sings old traditional songs in Basque and Spanish languages and the wine is all over the place too.

Durangoko Jaiak:

Every single year, during the third week of October, the Biscayan town of "Durango" celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 13th till the 20th of October.

Espeleta's Pepper Fair:

Every year in the mid-october weekend the Basque-French town of "Espelette" celebrates their big annual party focused on their famous Pepper. A big Basque fair is held over there and the party all night long is mandatory for that saturday. In 2018 the party date will be the 27th of October.

Last Monday of Gernika:

Every single year, the last monday of October, the Biscayan town of "Gernika" celebrates a big rural festival party. In 2018 the party will take place the 29th of October.

Guggenheim Museum Anniversary:

Every single year, during the closest weekend to the 20th of October, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao celebrates its foundation anniversay with two days of open doors and free visits. Really interesting to enjoy the views from the inside, and many times they also use the event to start a new exhibition. In 2018 the dates will be the 20th and the 21st of october: saturday and sunday.

Salón del Cómic:

Every single year, during the last weekend of October, one of the most important Comic-Cons in the north of Spain is held in Biscayan city of "Getxo". A very important Congress and a good Competition for new authors too. This year 2018 the Comic-Con will be opening the 19th of October and will be lasting till the 21st.

Japan Weekend Bilbao:

Every single year, during one of the last weekends of October, the Japan Weekend tour arrives to Bilbao. In 2018 the weekend selected will be the 20th of October, and the event will take place in the Bilbao Exhibition Center. A great way to discover the Japanese Culture in Bilbao.

"Nafarroa Oinez" Basque Language Festival:

Every year, on the closest sunday to the 22nd of October, basque speakers and those who love the basque language, its history and related culture join together in a town from Navarre to decide for a big outdoor music festival. In 2018 the date will be the 21st of October and the place will be "Altsasu".

Last Tour's BIME:

Every single year, during the last weekend of October, the BIME Music festival arrives to Bilbao. In 2018 the weekend selected will be the 25th, 26th and 27th of October.

Deusto Bier Festa:

Every year at the end of October and the beginning of November the OktoberFest lands in Bilbao. Bavarian Music, Food and Drinks to experience a real European Party in the most pure german style. In 2018 the dates will be from the 24th of October till the 4th of November.

Lore Jokoak:

Every single year the closest sunday to the 28th of October the Biscayan town of "Munguía" celebrates a big rural party with tradition singing and dancing. Really worth it. In 2018 the date will be the 28th of October.

Halloween's Parties:

Every single year, on the 31st of October the Halloween Party is celebrated in the city of Bilbao and surroundings. Trick or treat is performed by kids, and some older people also, around houses. Dress-parties are held all over the city too. Great opportunity to have fun before the "Saints Day", which is a more Catholic religious kind of party and a Bank Holyday in Spain.

San Antolines:

Every single year, during the first weekend of September, the Biscayan town of “Lekeitio” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place the weekend from the 1st till the 3rd of September. The main attraction is the "goose challenge", consisting in hanging a goose tied to a rope above the sea.

GetxoPhoto:

Every single year, during the month of September, the Biscayan city of “Getxo” celebrates a big International Image Festival. In 2018 the festival activities will take place from the 5th to the 30th of September.

Alarde Hondarribia:

Every single year, on September the 8th, the Gipuzkoan city of Hondarribia celebrates the "Alarde" parade.

La Vuelta - Bilbao Stage:

Every single year, during the month of September, the Biscayan city of “Bilbao” helds a stage finish-start of LaVuelta International  Pro-Tour Cycling Race. In 2019 the stages selected are the 12th and 13th during the 5th and 6th of September respectively.

Every single year, during the week of the 15th of September, the Riojan city of “Logroño” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 15th till the 22nd of September.

Naukas Bilbao:

Every single year, during the month of September, Bilbao helds the biggest scientific divulgation event in Spain. In 2018 the event will take place from the 13th to the 16th of September.

Santacruces:

Every single year, during the second week of September, the Biscayan town of “Galdakao” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 7th till the 15th of September.

Buen Suceso:

Every single year, the 18th of September, the Biscayan town of “Karrantza” celebrates their big annual festival parties in the name of the Virgin of Suceso. In 2018 the party will take place the 18th of course, but also it will be repeated the 15th and the 22nd (weekends before and after). Sutagar will be playing the first concert on the 15th.

Zinemaldia:

Every single year, during the last week of September, the Basque city of “San Sebastián” celebrates their famous International Film Festival. In 2018 the festival will take place from the 21st till the 29th of September. The big price to a full career will be for Danny De Vito.

OpenHouse Bilbao:

Open House is the largest open-door festival in Bilbao. During one weekend a year, Bilbao will open its doors to make itself known, an opportunity for residents and visitors to better understand the city through its architecture and urbanism. The visits will be free and will be accompanied by the explanation of guides. In 2018 the weekend selected to enjoy these visits will be arranged for the 22nd and 23rd of September.

Mercedes en Las Arenas:

Every single year, during the third weekend of September, the Biscayan town of “Las Arenas” (a neighbourhood of Getxo at the moment) celebrates their big summer festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place the 21st and till the 23rd of September.

Zallako Jaiak:

Every single year, during the third weekend of September, the Biscayan town of “Otxaran-Zalla” celebrates their big summer festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 26th of September and till the 3rd of October.

La Blanca:

Every single year, during the week of the 5th of August, the Basque city of “Vitoria-Gasteiz” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 4th till the 8th of August.

Elkanoren lehorreratzea:

Every four years, during the parties of Saint Salvador in August (from the 3rd to the 8th), the Basque town of “Getaria” holds a representation of the landing of Juan Sebastián Elkano in his hometown after a four year world-wide tour. This event is the official commemoration of the first tour around the world ever to be made by a human being in 1522. In this year 2018, the landing will take place on the 7th of August at 17:00.

Hendaiako Euskal Bestak:

Every year, the Basque town of "Hendaia" celebrates their annual Basque Parties during the second weekend of August. In 2018 the party will take place from the 10th till the 12th of August.

Semana Grande Donostiarra:

Every single year, during the week of the 15th August, the Basque city of “Donostia-San Sebastián” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 11th till the 18th of August.

Fiestas de Gernika:

Fiestas de Llodio:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Basque city of “Llodio” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 15th till the 26th of August.

Peregrinaje a Begoña:

Every year on the 15th of August up to 150.000 persons meet together in the old church of Begoña (Bilbao city) to pray for the Virgin of Begoña. This is an old christian tradition of our Basque Land.

Aste Nagusia:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Basque city of “Bilbao” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 18th till the 26th of August.

The Battle of the flowers:

Every single year the last friday of August from 17:30 the battle of the flowers is celebrated in the Cantabrian city of "Laredo". This traditional festival which started in 1908 is considered a Touristic National Heritage. Thousands of visitors come every year to watch the event live. A great parade with a huge amount of flowers is also performed. In 2018 the party will take place the 24th of August a week in advance.

San Agustín Jaiak:

Every single year the Biscayan town of "Erandio" celebrates their summer festival parties during the last week of August. This year 2018 the parties will take place from the 28th till the 1st of September.
