Suggestions for the month of August

La Blanca:

Every single year, during the week of the 5th of August, the Basque city of “Vitoria-Gasteiz” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 4th till the 8th of August.

Elkanoren lehorreratzea:

Every four years, during the parties of Saint Salvador in August (from the 3rd to the 8th), the Basque town of “Getaria” holds a representation of the landing of Juan Sebastián Elkano in his hometown after a four year world-wide tour. This event is the official commemoration of the first tour around the world ever to be made by a human being in 1522. In this year 2018, the landing will take place on the 7th of August at 17:00.

Hendaiako Euskal Bestak:

Every year, the Basque town of "Hendaia" celebrates their annual Basque Parties during the second weekend of August. In 2018 the party will take place from the 10th till the 12th of August.

Semana Grande Donostiarra:

Every single year, during the week of the 15th August, the Basque city of “Donostia-San Sebastián” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 11th till the 18th of August.

Fiestas de Gernika:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Biscayan city of “Gernika” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 11th till the 18th of August.

Portu Zaharrako Jaiak:

Every single year, around the 12th of August, the Biscayan town of “Algorta” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 11th till the 15th of August.

Feria de Dax:

Every single year, around the 15th of August, the  South-Western French town of “Dax” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 11th till the 15th of August.

San Roque en Portu:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Biscayan town of “Portugalete” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 14th till the 17th of August.

Fiestas de Llodio:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Basque city of “Llodio” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 15th till the 26th of August.

Peregrinaje a Begoña:

Every year on the 15th of August up to 150.000 persons meet together in the old church of Begoña (Bilbao city) to pray for the Virgin of Begoña. This is an old christian tradition of our Basque Land.

Aste Nagusia:

Every single year, during the third week of August, the Basque city of “Bilbao” celebrates their big annual summer-festival parties. In 2018 the party will take place from the 18th till the 26th of August.

The Battle of the flowers:

Every single year the last friday of August from 17:30 the battle of the flowers is celebrated in the Cantabrian city of "Laredo". This traditional festival which started in 1908 is considered a Touristic National Heritage. Thousands of visitors come every year to watch the event live. A great parade with a huge amount of flowers is also performed. In 2018 the party will take place the 24th of August a week in advance.

San Agustín Jaiak:

Every single year the Biscayan town of "Erandio" celebrates their summer festival parties during the last week of August. This year 2018 the parties will take place from the 28th till the 1st of September.
